Susanjoy Checksfield

It is with great sadness that we report that Susanjoy Checksfield has moved to another plane. After a brief illness, very early on the morning of 9/26/2025 she was stricken with a sudden cardiac event. Her suffering was mercifully brief and she passed in the arms of her longtime companion Richard Reckner. She would have been 71 on 10/1. She is survived by her companion R.A.Reckner and his family, which she treated as her own, as well as by cousins Elisabeth Quigley, her brother, Brian Quigley, William Frazier, his wife, Lisa, their children, Audrey, Natalie, William Jr. and Carolyn Deitrich. Her parents Susanna and Clinton (Mac) MacInnis, her siblings Michel and Debra Demko, as well as her former husband Thomas Checksfield have all gone to their reward. Susanjoy attended Parkland High School and Kutztown University where she achieved a BFA specializing in metals and textiles and a BFA for Craft Design, Folk Art and Artisanry An extremely active member of the local community she was well known for her intellect, gentility, leadership, philanthropy and activism. She was a member of Local 200 IATSE working in music, theater and film. She worked with the collections at the Kemerer Museum and the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center. Tiffany and Co. sought her out and employed her as the Head of Silver Polishing and Repairs. She was an active member of Coalition Labor Union Women (CLUW), represented at the Lehigh Valley Labor Council (AFL-CIO) and was a volunteer with the Remember the Triangle Fire Coalition. She was an active supporter of Indigenous Peoples public events and several volunteer pet support organizations. Locally donations to Peaceable Kingdom, in her name would be deeply appreciated, or donate to your local shelter. Although she will be missed it was a life well lived, and a life well loved.
