Susie Moyer Obituary

Susie Freed Heebner Moyer, 103, of Sellersville, PA, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 2, 2025. She was the wife of the late Howard (Weber) Moyer. Born in Telford, PA in 1921 to the late Abram (Landes) and Susie (Nice) Freed Heebner, Susie began school at Behhn's, a one-room schoolhouse located on State Road outside of Telford, PA. In the middle of her fourth grade in 1931, she changed schools when they opened West Rockhill Consolidated School on Ridge Road at Almont, PA. When the school started, it combined several one-room schools in West Rockhill Township, PA. Susie was the third consecutive generation with the name of "Susie" in her family, and three consecutive generations followed after her with the same name. Susie and Howard, along with her five children, operated a small poultry farm on the west side of Morwood, PA for 21 years. For the next 20 years, she lived in Souderton, PA while working part-time at Dengler's Bakery prior to beginning her full-time work in the kitchen at Rockhill Mennonite Community. She worked at RMC for 23 years before retiring in 1994, several months before her husband, Howard, passed away. She enjoyed life at Rockhill Mennonite Community (now Community at Rockhill), Sellersville, PA, where she and Howard moved 33 years ago. It was here that she made many friends playing Rummikub, going to the dining room (where she served on the Dining Room Committee for many years until as recent as four years ago) and taking part in other social activities prior to moving to health care over two years ago where new friends were made. She also crocheted many lap robes to be given as gifts. Susie was a long-time member of the Rockhill Mennonite Church, Telford, PA, where she was active in the church's sewing circle for many years, which included cross stitching tops for quilts. She was also a member of the Gideons Ladies Auxiliary and helped deliver Meals on Wheels with her brother, Steward. Susie was devoted to her family. She is survived by her two daughters, K. Louise Gehman (Ray) of Harleysville, PA, and S. Lucille Landis (Richard) of Telford, PA; her three sons, H. Lowell Moyer (Rose) of Telford, PA, Abram L. Moyer (Glenda), of Lansdale, PA, and K. Leon Moyer (Dawn) of Souderton, PA; 15 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren; and her sister, Virginia Bergey (Chester) of Harleysville, PA. In addition to her husband Howard who died in 1994, she was preceded in death by a 14-month-old brother Earle in 1916, her brother Steward Heebner in 2005, her sister Margaret Moyer in 2019, and two infant great grandchildren, Jackson Landis in 2016 and Elijah Landis in 2019. A public visitation will be held at Franconia Mennonite Church Fellowship Hall on March 2, 2025 starting at 2 PM with a sharing time to begin at 3 PM. Graveside services and burial were private for the immediate family at Rockhill Mennonite Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Benevolent Fund at the Community at Rockhill, 3250 State Rd., Sellersville, PA 18960.
