Thomas Leo Obituary

Thomas "Tom" Walter Leo March 2, 1936 – July, 29, 2025 Thomas "Tom" Walter Leo, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on March 2, 1936, in the Bronx, New York, Tom was the son of Helen Ashley (nee Fear) and Thomas Walter Leo, Sr. He graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School and went on to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he forged the foundation of a life defined by discipline, service, and intellectual curiosity. Following his graduation from West Point, Tom served his country with honor as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged on July 6, 1962. Tom built a dynamic and successful career in business, contributing his expertise to several Fortune 500 companies including General Motors, DuPont, and Union Bank of Switzerland. He also founded and operated his own consulting firm, where he continued to mentor and inspire others in his field. Throughout his life, Tom remained deeply committed to his community. He volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America as an instructor and was a faithful member of Saint Helena's Roman Catholic Church in Wilmington, Delaware. His Catholic faith was a steady compass in his life. Tom had a lifelong passion for travel, and with his beloved wife, Sarah, he explored the world-visiting Australia, China, Europe, Kuala Lumpur, South America, and all 50 U.S. states. He was also a loyal supporter of the West Point Black Knights football team and rarely missed a game. Tom will be remembered for his sharp intellect, passion for reading and dry sense of humor. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled in those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his four children: daughter Jane Maksoud, sons John (Michele), Joe (Carol) and Bob; six grandchildren Michelle (Donny), Stephen (Rachael), Erin (Dave), Courtney, Morgan, Shannon and five great granddaughters Riley, Lily, Remi, Ava, and Isla Rose. He was predeceased by his wife Sara as well as parents Helen and Thomas and brother Tony. Interment will take place privately at The U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
