Thomas Matthews Obituary

Thomas M. "Tommy" Matthews, 71, passed away peacefully at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was a son of the late Frederick P. and Helen (Lessig) Matthews Sr. Tommy was employed at Mrs. Smith for over 20 years. When he finally retired, he got a part-time job delivering edible fruit arrangements to keep busy. He enjoyed spending time with his "fat head and bed hog" Tonka while watching the Phillies and Eagles with his son and grandchildren. Every summer, Tom could be found vacationing at Walls Apartments in Rehoboth Beach, telling stories and placing a bet, or five, nothing was better than the beach and a cold beer. His humor, warmth, and uncanny ability to remember everyone's name (and most of their birthdays) will be missed more than words can say. Tommy had a one-of-a-kind personality, contagious smile and unique laugh. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. Tommy will be missed by many. He leaves behind his memories to be cherished by his son Thomas "T.J." Matthews Jr. (wife Heather), siblings, Frederick P. Matthews Jr, Joanne M. Warker (husband Christopher), grandchildren Chase B. Matthews, Ryan A. Matthews, nephews Jarrett C. Warker, Daniel Tucker and niece Jalene C. Warker. Tommy is predeceased by his sister Monica M. Matthews and grandson Bryce A. Matthews. A celebration of life will be held at the Matthews family residence at 23 Maywood Ave. Sinking Spring PA, 19608 on Sunday, June 1st from 2-7pm. All are welcome to come to celebrate Tommy's life. Please feel encouraged to email any pictures you may have to: [email protected]. Warker~Troutman Funeral Home Inc is honored to serve Tommy's family.

My condolences to the family and friends of Tom. I met him through my late husband Mike Shay. They worked at Mrs. Smiths pies and went to Catholic school together. I remember them telling me about some of their adventures together. One of the last times I saw Tom was when he went to Florida for Mike's 60th birthday and then after he passed away. Tom will be missed and I will miss his the texts he had sent me over the years. RIP Tom love you always my friend.

I worked with Tom at edible arrangements. He is truly one of a kind and will be missed. The stories he tell I will cherish all them and the work relationship we had. I know he's up there with our other co worker Vicki who passed as well .They are both drinking a beer and her a glass of wine. Tom will be missed by many. Condolences to the family
