Thomas O'Haire Obituary

Thomas Tracy O'Haire, Jr, 70, formerly of Bethlehem, PA, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 7th at Cornerstone Living in Werleys Corner, PA where he had been lovingly cared for by staff and Ascend hospice the last few years of his life. He was the oldest son of the late Thomas Tracy and Marie O'Haire. Tommy entered this world 70 years ago in a blizzard and was a whirlwind his whole life. He attended St. Theresa Catholic Grade School in Hellertown and was the first class to graduate at the new Saucon Valley High School in 1973. After graduation, he was hired by Bethlehem Steel where he worked for over 20 years as a rigger, never shying away from a job no matter how high up in the sky it was or how difficult. He was a proud member of United Steelworkers and spent many hours with his fellow steelworkers at the Union Hall on Lehigh Street. After the Steel closed, Tommy got his license in welding, was a concrete inspector, and eventually worked for Bethlehem Precast delivering concrete commercial products up and down the East Coast with his 18 wheel truck. Tommy married Patricia in 2013 after a long courtship. They spent time together working on their house, loving their cats, taking road trips on his motorcycle and sharing vegetables with friends and family from their bountiful community garden. Tommy cared for Patty as she battled breast cancer and was with her as she passed in 2018. Tommy loved long bike rides either on his Cannondale road bike or his motorcycle. He played rugby with the Bethlehem Hooligans, loved to shoot hoops, enjoyed golfing, swimming, kayaking, hunting and even sky diving. He never turned down a meal of spaghetti and meatballs or a cold beer. He was quiet, strong and fearless and will be sorely missed by all those that loved him especially his family: brother Brian O'Haire, and wife Sandra of Downingtown, PA and two cool nephews Brian Jr. and Gregory, brother Gerald O'Haire and wife Brenda of Coplay, PA and his favorite and only sister Marlene O'Haire Sandkamp and her husband Anthony of Jersey City, NJ. There will be a private memorial. In lieu of flowers, you may send donations to Cornerstone Living Nursing Home to provide supplies for others in their care. And if you can, get on your bike and ride. He would love that. To send a flower arrangement in memory of Thomas T. O'Haire, Jr., please click here to visit our sympathy store.
