Tomas Bonilla Obituary
Tomas Armando Bonilla, Sr., 57, of Souderton, PA, formerly of Perkasie, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 22, 2025, at his residence.
He was the beloved husband of Elvia Marina Morataya Perez.
Born in El Progreso Yoro, Honduras, Tomas was the son of Blanca D. Guevara of Green Lane, PA, and the late Maximo Bonilla, Sr.
For 23 years, Tomas owned and operated Bonilla & Sons, a well-respected business based in Souderton, PA. He was known for his tireless work ethic, generous spirit, and remarkable craftsmanship.
Tomas was a devoted member of Centro Cristiano "Cristo es la Luz" in Telford, PA.
Tomas had a deep love for the outdoors and lived life with joy and passion. He enjoyed fishing, bodybuilding, swimming, hiking, and riding motorcycles. He loved spending time at the beach, relaxing in his hammock, and grilling for family and friends. A gifted handyman and carpenter, he found joy in building and creating things with his hands. He also had a special gift for cooking and a genuine love for children.
Those who knew Tomas will remember him as a hardworking, kind, and friendly man with an infectious smile and a heart for others. Always upbeat, he had a great sense of humor and was known as a bit of a jokester. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand. One of his favorite sayings was: "Don't cook your chickens before they're hatched."
In addition to his wife, Elvia, he is survived by his 1st Wife, Rosa A. Ortiz of Gainesville, GA; his 2nd Wife, Sadie M. Werley of Dorothy, NJ; his five children, Eyleen Y. Bonilla-Ortiz & companion, Alex Mejia of Gainesville, GA, Adilia Moriah Bonilla & companion, Spencer Price of New Haven, CT, Tomas "TJ" A. Bonilla, Jr. & wife, Jessa of Souderton, PA, Maximo S. Bonilla of Dorothy, NJ, Susana M. Bonilla of Souderton, PA; his four step-children, Darex Y. Guerra of Souderton, PA, Keneth B. Guerra of Souderton, PA, Ana J. Guerra & husband, Angel of Souderton, PA, Sarahjean M. Werley of Dorothy, NJ; his four grandchildren - Kayleen Michelle Mejia, Jayden Alexander Mejia, Gracie Sophia Meija, Ford Wayne Shafer; his step-grandchild - Elian Haiziel Guerra; his sister, Maira X. Bonilla & companion, Nelson Maradiaga of North Wales, PA; and his brother, Carlos G. Bonilla of Green Lane, PA.
A viewing will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 East Broad St., Souderton, PA 18964, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am.
A second viewing will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 6:00 pm to 12:00 am at Iglesia De Dios Pentecostal Nueva Jerusalén La Celestial, 1003 W. Marshall St., Norristown, PA 19401.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 12:00 pm at Souderton Borough Community Park, 459 Wile Avenue, Souderton, PA 18964. The event will start at noon and go until it naturally winds down. This will be a potluck gathering, so please feel free to bring a dish to share as we come together for food and fellowship. In honor of Tomas, we kindly ask that you wear something with purple or green-his favorite colors.

Burial will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 9:00 am at Hillside Cemetery, 272 N. 2nd St., Souderton, PA 18964.
