Valara Hartman Obituary

Valara L. Hartman, 95, of Kunkletown, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025, while under hospice care in her daughter's home. Born on June 13, 1930 at home in Tobyhanna, she was the daughter of the late William and Laura (Siepler) Marsh and lived in Monroe County for most of her life. Prior to retirement she worked as a seamstress for Valerie Fashions and Scotties Fashions. Valara was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Stroudsburg and the I.L.G.W.U. She was a woman of strong spirit who found joy in simple things, especially gardening and bird watching. Her greatest joy was her family, and she is survived by four children: Richard W. Halstead (Alma), Randall Halstead, Shelley DePaul and Charlene DiPeri (Laura Duncan); five grandchildren: Richard Halstead (Sheri), Deidre Yurksza (Keith), Jodi DePaul, Adam DePaul and Jaxsen Sheppard; two great-grandchildren: Karissa and Tyanna; two great-great grandchildren. Caleb and Anna. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brook L. DePaul. A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 29th, at 2:00PM at St. Paul's Cemetery in Swiftwater with Rev. William Martin officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made to a charity of one's choice.
