Vernon Pritt Obituary
Vernon Gene Pritt, 81, of Quakertown, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 26, 2025, at the St. Luke's Hospital Upper Bucks Campus.
Vernon was the faithful husband of Susan Irene (Poland) Pritt for almost 56 years. He was born in Johnstown, PA, to the late Willard Lee Pritt and the late Marian Grace (Albus) Pritt.
Vernon graduated from Johnstown High School, class of 1963, before joining the military. During the Vietnam War, Vernon served his country as an F-105 electronics technician for the United States Air Force in Thailand. While stationed in Japan, he first heard the gospel and came to know salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. After leaving military service he worked for Orders Mattress Company in Greenville, SC, while attending college, eventually graduating from Bob Jones University, class of 1973, with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education.
Now with a wife and a son, he embarked on a long career in education, serving first as principal at Easley Christian School, and then at Landmark Christian Academy, which he helped to found in Easley, SC. After moving to Pennsylvania, he served as principal and administrator of Faith Christian Academy, and was ordained to the ministry and served as an assistant pastor at Faith Baptist Church in Sellersville, PA. After his family made the leap into homeschooling, he founded Pritt Ministry Services, becoming a consultant for Christian schools and providing resources for the growing homeschool movement.
During this time he became the facilities manager for Henning's Market and the Meadowbrook Plaza Shopping Center in Harleysville, a role he held for over thirty years.
Vernon was not just an advocate for Christian education, he was also a faithful member of his local church. He and his family were charter members of Faith Baptist Church in Bethlehem, PA, where he also served as a deacon. His family later joined Valley View Bible Church in Telford, PA, where he served as a deacon and the Sunday school superintendent. From 2008 until his death, he was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pottstown, PA, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, deacon, and GriefShare facilitator.
Vernon was a life-long learner, handyman, and jack-of-all-trades. He enjoyed gardening, maintaining a fish pond, woodworking, and teaching. He is remembered by family and friends as a hardworking, faithful, knowledgeable man, full of practical wisdom.
