Wanda S. Zammer

1925 - 2024

Wanda S. Zammer, 99, formerly of Hometown, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Holy Family Manor. Born in 1925, she was the daughter of the late Ludvig and Catherine (Grala) Kozikowski. She was the wife of the late William Zammer, who passed away in 2016. Wanda was a devout Catholic and a longtime member of St. John XXIII, Tamaqua, PA. Throughout the years, she was an active member of the church choir and active in the Charismatic Renewal movement. During World War II, Wanda was a "Rosie the Riveter" and took a job as a welder. She and Bill were also co-owners of the Leather Corner Post Bar and Grill where they were proud "boombadears". In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling all over to the world, particularly the Holy Lands. She also loved listening and dancing to polka music and enjoyed listening to Polka Joe every Sunday. Wanda is survived by her children, Wandie Little, Louis Zammer, and Thomas Zammer, brother, Bernard Kozikowski, 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, William Zammer, and children, William Zammer, Denise Garrity, and Bobby Zammer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 30, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas More, 1040 Flexer Ave. Allentown, PA 18103. A Calling hour will be held prior to mass from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Denise C Garrity Foundation that supports women with breast and gynecologic cancers and their families.
