William Carmody Obituary

William E. Carmody, 66 years, of Fogelsville, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025 at his home. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, he was a son of the late William E. and Irene (Dickson) Carmody. Since 1987, William owned and operated First Generation Visual Communications Inc. & TechniCom Audio & Visual Inc., both located in the Lehigh Valley, leading the companies to impressive heights in the industry and winning multiple awards for mastery in his field. He was a veteran of the US Army where he proudly served as a paratrooper in the 509th Airborne Division with tours overseas and across the United States. He was a devoted father and grandfather who centered the success of his children in all facets of his life. In addition to his family, William showed tremendous generosity constantly supporting those in need. As an avid philanthropist, he served on the Board of Directors for Valley Youth House, and was involved with the United Way, Lehigh Valley Military Affairs Council, the Reading Brigade, and contributed extensively to numerous non-profit organizations across the Lehigh Valley. His actions reflected a genuine commitment to others and his generosity left a lasting impact on everyone that he met. William was also lover of Hockey, playing as a young man, coaching, serving as the President of the Lehigh Valley Comets Hockey Association, and an original sponsor of the PP&L Hockey Arena and Lehigh Valley Phantoms. A self-proclaimed historian, William was well read in military history and had a seemingly endless wealth of knowledge on the topic. He particularly loved his time spent in Italy, where he enjoyed living up the Italian lifestyle, sipping cappuccinos by the piazza, and using his Italian language skills to make new friends. William approached life with a true purpose. His presence was unmistakable, and his influence extended across many communities and lives. Surviving are his children: William Carmody, III, wife Melissa of Fogelsville; Christina McShane of Coplay; and Patrick Carmody, wife Michelle of Hampstead, NC; grandchildren: Kyla, Ashlyn, and Kellan; siblings: Judith Grogan of Compton, RI; Susan Carmody of Forestdale, MA; Maureen Springer and husband Richard of Plympton, MA; Mary Morse of Plympton, MA. Predeceased by his siblings: Kathy Healy and Patricia Carmody. A Memorial Service will take place at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 3, 2025 in Keller Funeral Home, 1018 Church Street, Fogelsville, with a visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Interment will be private. Losing you has left an irreplaceable void in my heart, one that echoes with the laughter and memories we shared. Your kindness, warmth, and unwavering support were a light in my life, guiding me through both the joyful and challenging moments. I often find myself reminiscing about our lengthy talks and the dreams we dared to share, and it breaks my heart knowing I can no longer turn to you for comfort or advice. Though you may no longer be here in body, your spirit lives on in the love you gave and the lives you touched. I will carry your memory with me always, cherishing the moments we had together and striving to honor your legacy by spreading the same kindness you so effortlessly shared with the world. Rest easy my friend. I miss you everyday.
