William K. "Bill" Mason

William K. "Bill" Mason PHC USN, 82, of Catasauqua, PA, passed away peacefully at home on August 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He now joins his beloved wife, Mary Jane Mason, in eternal rest. Born in Queens, New York, he was the son of Lycurgus Mason and Dorothy Griffin. Bill was a veteran who proudly served in the United States Navy from 1964 - 1985 with an additional ten years served in the reserves. During his career, Bill was awarded several commendations, medals, and ribbons. He found a passion for photography and developed everlasting images of both beauty and devastation. His work during the Vietnam War on the supercarrier, USS Forrestal (CV-59), will forever be memorialized on the August 1967 cover of Life magazine's, "Inferno At Sea." Bill's vision and ambition continued after retirement as a wedding photographer until darkrooms became obsolete. In an ever-evolving world, Bill, being a jack of all trades, advanced to executive director of the non-profit, H.A.D.C. in Allentown, PA. Bill was a funny man, full of knowledge, wisdom, and wit. He could deliver a zinger like no other! He was a pillar in his home, offering stability, peace, and support. He will forever be honored in the hearts of those who love him so dearly. He is survived by his brother, Lycurgus "Kirk" Mason; his children, Christopher P. (Raina), Lisa (Jimmy), Christopher B., Thomas, and Tiffany (Kenny); his grandchildren, Dustin, Dylan, Delaney, Jesse, Sarah, Corinne, William, Zachary, and Alivia; and his great-grandchildren, Ava and Aria. Bill was predeceased by his brother Gregory Mason. The family will coordinate a celebration of life with honors at a later date.
