Adele Anderson

Adele "Del" Anderson, 100, passed away peacefully at her home in Evergreen Woods on Friday, February 14, 2025. She was born at home on October 2, 1924, in West Haven, to John and May Young Shove. Del loved living in Connecticut where most of her family lived and worked. After high school, she worked at Echlin Manufacturing alongside her brother, Gordon Shove. She met her future husband, Harold "Harry" Anderson at an Echlin family picnic. Del and Harry married in 1948 and moved to Guilford where they raised their two children, Kevin and Kathy. Harry passed away in 2017 after 69 blessed years of marriage. Adele was a wonderful stay at home mom who volunteered at the library at Melissa Jones School in North Guilford. She loved crafting and was an accomplished knitter and quilter. Del and Harry loved visiting Florida in the winters and enjoyed relaxing with family and friends at their cottage in Moody Beach, Maine, where they spent many summers on the beach. Del and Harry were gracious hosts who loved spending time with family and friends. They moved to Evergreen Woods in 2012. Del celebrated her 100th birthday in October 2024 at a party surrounded by family and friends. Kind, considerate, and respectful to all, Del left a lasting impression on everyone who met her. A devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her son Kevin Anderson (Carole) and daughter Kathleen Castellon; her grandchildren, Ashley Anderson of the Villages, FL, Patrick Anderson (Catalina) of St. Petersburg, FL, Christina Lauar (Nate) of Boynton Beach, FL, Stephen Castellon of Branford, Allison Castellon of Branford, and H. Brian Castellon of St. Petersburg, FL. and her beloved great grandchildren, Aiden, Annalise, Sofia and Preston. She is predeceased by her husband Harold and her six siblings, Gordon, John, Kenneth, Norman, Ada, and Irma. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Beat Childhood Cancer in honor of Del's great-granddaughter Sofia, a cancer survivor. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. Calling hours at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden will be Friday from 4:00-7:00pm.
