Rabbi Alan Alpert

Rabbi Alan Alpert, of Hamden, CT, passed away on August 21 at the age of 76, after a life well-lived. He will be lovingly missed by Meryl, his wife of 55 years, his children, Rabbi Jaymee Alpert & Danny Kischel, and Gary Alpert & Gavi Elkind, his grandchildren, Jacy, Luci, and Willow, his sister and brother-in-law, Sandra & Mike Cone, his nieces and nephews, Stephanie Goldenhersh, mother of Jacy and Luci, and many close friends. Alan was born, raised, and educated in New Haven, CT and moved with his family to Newton, MA in 1981. He was the executive and ritual director of Temple Emeth in Chestnut Hill, MA and later the rabbi of Congregation Agudat Achim in Leominster, MA, where he served with joy and enthusiasm for 18 years. Upon retirement, Alan and Meryl moved back to Connecticut to be close to family and high school friends. In addition to his family, Alan loved ice cream, The Rolling Stones, football, and travel, especially to Israel. Although his body may have slowed him down, his spirit and love of life kept him going. The funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Sunday, August 24 at Temple Beth Sholom, 1809 Whitney Ave, Hamden, CT and on Zoom: https://zoom.us/j/406004691 password: 181818 Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery, 817 Old Colony Rd, Meriden, CT. After the burial, everyone is welcome back to Temple Beth Sholom for a meal of consolation and Mincha at 3:30.
