Alan Before

Alan R. Before, 72, of Agawam, MA passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 surrounded by his three daughters, at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, MA. Born October 1, 1952 in Newport, VT son of the late Gordon and Elsinore (Kennison) Before. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving overseas on the USS Independence during the Vietnam War. He was a welder by trade, graduating from the Hartford Modern School of Welding in 1981. Alan was also a trained carpenter. Before retiring, he was a machine operator for Hardigg Industries. Alan enjoyed bowling, snowmobiling, playing pool, listening to Elvis, reading the local newspapers, and completing his daily crossword puzzles. He is survived by his three daughters, Jaime A. Prudente and her husband, Kevin of Bolton, MA, Michelle A. Strawinski and her husband, Stephen of Suffield, CT, Lisa M. Beaulieu and her husband, Andrew of West Suffield, CT; a sister, Susan Betschart and her husband, Roger of Lodi, CA; eight grandchildren, Alaina, Caroline, Charlotte, Alexandra, Drew, Noella, Aleesa, Trenton; and the mother of his children, Brunella Keller of Enfield, CT. He also leaves many beloved nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends on Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 12-3 PM at Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St. N. (Rt. 159), Suffield, CT followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Military honors will conclude the service.
