Alice Hession Obituary

Alice Jean (Smoose) "Gigi" Hession, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, just one day shy of her 88th birthday. Born on August 9, 1937, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, Alice lived a full and beautiful life, marked by love, devotion, and an enduring spirit. Gigi was the cherished wife of the late George Hession, with whom she shared 65 years of love and partnership before his passing in 2024. Together, they built a home centered on family, faith, and community. They made their home in Glastonbury, where they raised their family, and spent cherished summers in Greenhill, RI-treasured traditions filled with fun, laughter, and lasting memories with children, grandchildren, and friends. She followed her calling into nursing after graduating from the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, dedicating her professional life to caring for others with compassion and skill. Her caring nature extended far beyond her work, as she was always ready to support family, friends, and those in need. Gigi was the proud and loving mother of Karen Turner and her husband Paul of Norwalk; Kathleen Rockey and her husband Patrick of North Easton, MA; and David Hession and his wife Shannon of Doylestown, PA. She was the endlessly loving "Mimi" to seven grandchildren: Claire Keown and her husband Turi, Laura Turner, Brendan Rockey and his wife Casey, Kale and Meaghan Rockey, and Kiley and Michael Hession. Known affectionately as "Mimi," Gigi embraced her role as grandmother with warmth, humor, and boundless love. She found great joy in family gatherings, traditions, and in the many simple, everyday moments spent together. She loved a round of golf-celebrated with a hole-in-one-time at the crafting table, and friendly games of bridge that deepened her friendships and kept her laughing. Though she is reunited with her beloved George in eternal rest, Gigi leaves behind a family who will forever cherish the example she set of kindness, loyalty, and joy. Honoring her wishes, services for Gigi will be private. To continue her spirit of caring, the family invites you to consider a memorial gift to the Alzheimer's Association, helping advance research and bring hope to families affected by dementia at www.alz.org/donate. Those who were lucky enough to know Gigi will always carry her love in their hearts and in the countless memories she leaves behind.
