Amie LaPointe Obituary
Amie Marie LaPointe
Beloved Daughter, Mother, Sister, and Friend
December 12, 1980 – June 8, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of an amazing daughter, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and dear friend. Amie Marie LaPointe, 44, of Windsor Locks, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025, following a tragic accident.
Amie was born in Alexandria, VA, the beloved daughter of Marie Vassallo of East Hartford and the late Albert LaPointe. She graduated from Bloomfield High School and earned her Associate's Degree in Nursing from Capital Community College, all while working as a Pharmacy Technician at CVS. She went on to work at Hartford Hospital's Institute of Living for many years, then briefly served as a travel nurse at St. Vincent and Yale Hospitals. Amie later joined the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections and, for the past eight years, served as the Forensic Head Nurse for the Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services. She was deeply respected by both her colleagues and the patients she cared for. Her work ethic, dedication, and passion for helping others inspired all who knew her.
Amie will be fondly remembered as a loving, caring, and fiercely protective woman who had a zest for life and a heart full of love for her family and friends. Her children were her world. She taught them the importance of family, discipline, kindness, independence, and hard work. They, in turn, taught her to love unconditionally. Education was a top priority for Amie, and she ensured her children had every opportunity to succeed and grow into strong, capable individuals.
She lived life on her own terms-fearless, adventurous, and unapologetically herself. Amie was "Miss Congeniality"-she could walk into a room full of strangers and leave having made lifelong friends. Her positive energy, dark and witty sense of humor, and generous spirit made her unforgettable. Whether offering the shirt off her back or a listening ear, Amie was always there when you needed her.
The beach was Amie's happy place, where she found peace with the sun on her face and her toes in the sand. She loved traveling, camping, hiking, and spending time outdoors. A true "plant whisperer," she could revive any struggling plant, and her love of animals ran deep. She believed in self-care and made it a point to nurture both her physical and emotional well-being.
Amie leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a legacy of love, strength, and joy. She made every moment count and impacted every life she touched.
She is survived by her devoted children, Dominic Leonard, Caiden Moore, and Rihanna Moore, all of Windsor Locks; her mother, Marie Vassallo; her brother, Jamie LaPointe and his wife Stacie of Vail, AZ; her sisters, Renee Ruiz and her wife Yolanda of Bridgeport, and Robin Hanson and her husband John of Ellijay, GA; her nieces, Emma LaPointe and Audrey LaPointe; nephews, John Hanson and David Hanson; and her beloved cousins, who were more like siblings, Tonya Vassallo, Nicole Vassallo, Tony Vassallo and his wife Raeann Gilbert, Kenny Vassallo, and their children Rama, Makai, Zoey, Zane, Anthony, Gianna, Isabella, Bryson, and Elyjiah.
She was predeceased by her father, Albert LaPointe, and her beloved cousin, Julie Dostie.
Her family will receive friends on Saturday, June 14, 11 a.m.-12 p.m., with a Celebration of Life, 12 p.m., at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor.
