Anna Zappulla

WINSTED – Anna (Bazzano) Zappulla, 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at her home. She was predeceased by her loving husband Emilio J. Zappulla, to whom she was married for 56 years. Born July 15, 1934 in Italy; the daughter of the late Salvatore and Giuseppina (Gianni) Bazzano.
After immigrating from Italy in 1955, Anna worked at several local factories including Winsted Precision Ball and Capitol Products. She loved to cook; everyone enjoyed her chicken cutlets, Sunday sauce with spare ribs, pork sausage and meatballs, lasagna and Sicilian style pizza. Anna and her husband would make their own homemade sauce for the family to enjoy all year long. And while she had other hobbies like sewing and crocheting, she cherished spending time with family and friends most, no holidays necessary!
Anna is survived by two sons, Frank Zappulla and his wife Mary Ellen of Yarmouth, MA and Salvatore Zappulla and his wife Jennifer of Manchester, CT; siblings, Sebastiana "Sally" Fontana and husband Gaetano of Winsted, Maria Bazzano of Winsted and Carmelo Bazzano and wife Joanne of Winsted; five grandchildren, Joseph, Michael, Robert, Amanda and Lily; three great grandchildren, Jack, Isabella, and Nico with one more expected in the spring of 2026. Anna also cherished her nieces, nephews, close neighbors and friends.
Friends may call on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted from 9:30 - 11:30 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at St. Joseph Church, Winsted at 12 PM. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Winsted.
