Artur "Art" Pires

Artur "Art" C. Pires, 80, of North Haven, passed tragically on Monday, October 13th, 2025, from injuries received from a motor vehicle accident that afternoon. He was the beloved husband of 61 years to Rita J. Frances Pires. Art was born in Sanjurge, Portugal on April 10th, 1945, and was the son of the late Francisco and Helena da Cruz Pires. He was a graduate of Eli Whitney Technical High School and later attended the University of New Haven. Art was the owner/operator of Terra-Mar Construction for many years and later worked for the Mineri Brothers Paving and Construction Companies of Northford. He was an avid soccer fan and was a very talented soccer player while attending the University of New Haven. Art was a member of the Vasco Da Gama Soccer Club of Bridgeport and the Marchegiano Society, New Haven. Father of Arthur F. Pires, Dino J. Pires (Stephanie), Marcus A. Pires, Rita M. Puglise (Mark), Joshua J. Pires and the late Jessica Lynn Pires. Beloved PaPa to Jessica Marie Pires, Shelby Robinson (Kevin), Amanda Pires, Jeremy Pires, Savannah Tozier (Tim), Helena Pires, Emma Pires, Joshua Pires, Giovanna Gonsalves, Natalia Farina and Evanna Pires. Beloved Great PaPa to Gabriel Chaires, Stella Pires, Azula Tozier, Bella Robinson. Brother of Almor Pires (Kathy), Maria Madalena Gouveia (Peter), Rosalie Lamphier (Brian), Helena Wasilewski (Matthew), Anthony Pires (Carol), Judy Richards (Robert), Maria Amelia Pires and the late John Pires. The visiting hours will be Monday, October 20th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Funeral Service will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday morning, October 21st at 11:00. Entombment will follow in the All Saints Mausoleum.
