Barbara Andriks Obituary

Obituary of Barbara K. Andriks Barbara K. Andriks, 67 of South Windsor, passed away on the morning of Saturday, May 24, 2025. Born on August 22, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Lottie Kowalsky of South Glastonbury. She was a hairdresser for 3 years, then worked various jobs at Travelers Insurance Company, most recently as a Data Compliance Analyst before retiring in 2015. She was a member of St. Junipero Serra Parish in South Windsor since 1987. She was predeceased by her husband of almost 10 years, Mark, in 1997. She leaves her brother Ronald and his wife Andrea of East Haddam, brother Robert in Washington, sister Susan and her husband Anthony of Andover, nephew Anthony, niece Lauren, and many incredible and supportive friends including those dating back to childhood. She loved her cats Koko, Nugget, Murphy, Boots, and Blaze, as well as cats in general. She was very fond of reading and enjoyed romance and mystery novels such as the Hannah Swensen series by Joanne Fluke. She loved crafting and was very talented, from knitting entire cardigans with her personal tag attached, to making extravagant jewelry she took pride in selling at craft shows through her own gift shop business known as Andriks Crafts. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 31 at 10am at SS Isidore and Maria Parish at Saint Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Road, South Glastonbury. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in Glastonbury. Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 30 from 5pm to 7pm at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. Barbara was very passionate about volunteering at animal shelters and supporting their mission to rescue animals in need, so in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Last Chance Animal Rescue (https://givebutter.com/LCARescue) or Protectors of Animals (https://poainc.org/donate).

Dear Sue, I´m devastated to hear of Barbara passing. She brought so much life, love, laughter, humor, generosity and fun to our family! She will be painfully missed by her neighbors, friends, family, and acquaintances. She was the sister I never had until Mark brought her into our family.

It was with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Barbara. We were sisters-in-law for many years and I always enjoyed her company. I remember fondly her patience when trying to teach me how to create Ukrainian eggs for Easter. Her late husband Mark was godfather to my son Tim, and Barbara never forgot to remember Tim for all his special milestones. Please accept my condolences . I shall always remember her kindness and infectious laugh.

A friend from high school, Barbara was one of our gang. Always a smile and a wise crack. Many good memories!
