Barbara Wheeler Obituary

Barbara Ann (Barlowski) Wheeler, 67, of Bristol, was reunited with her loving family on January 17, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. Barbara was born on January 19, 1957 to the late Stanley and Phyllis (Awdziewicz) Barlowski. She is survived by her brother Robert Barlowski of Bristol, her Aunt Helen Awdziewicz of Meriden, and her faithful fur baby Sage. Barbara also leaves behind her two devoted friends Mary Varhol Garafan and Lynda Dutil Burns and her daughter's loving best friends along with their children who affectionately referred to her as Grammy Barb. She was predeceased by both her parents, her daughter Kara Beth Testa, son Robert Testa, husbands David Wheeler, Raymond Testa, and brothers Stephen and Stanley (Stas) Barlowski. Barbara worked for many years in the healthcare insurance industry at ConnectiCare and Prudence Crandall for abused women. She was a bright light in the lives of those who knew her. With all her life struggles, she was generous with her time and always had a kind word. She loved God deeply, and all those who touched her life. She will be missed beyond measure by her chosen family and cherished cousins, relatives, and friends. Please remember Barbara by paying it forward with simple, random acts of kindness. There will be no calling hours. A service at Asbury Methodist Church in Bristol will be held on February 8, 2025 at 10am.
