Bessie Fulmore Obituary

With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved Bessie Fulmore on June 18, 2025. A devoted mother, sister, grandmother, widow, cousin, prayer warrior, friend whose unwavering faith, boundless love, and selflessness touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Bessie was born on May 6, 1940, in South Carolina, to the deceased Celia and Walter Nesmith. Bessie was the first daughter of thirteen siblings. Remembered by Betty Ashley from Philadelphia, PA, Mr. Bobby J. Nesmith and Patricia Nesmith (brother/sister-in-law) from Philadelphia, PA, Mr. Tommy Nesmith Sr. and Annie Nesmith (brother/sister-in-law) from Colombia, SC. Mrs. Alberta McClary and Reverend Richard McClary (sister/brother-in-law) from Nesmith, SC. Ms. Edna Nesmith (sister) from Nesmith SC, and Ms. Janice Nesmith (sister) from Nesmith, SC. Bessie was a loving and dedicated mother to her three daughters, Robin Fulmore, Anaya Fulmore, Shonda Fulmore of Connecticut. She is also forever united in spirit with her late son, Anthony Fulmore, who remains forever in her heart and her late husband, Alvin Fulmore, a U.S. Army veteran, with whom she shared over 50 years of marriage. She was a proud grandmother to her seven grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Bessie's faith in Christ was the cornerstone of her life. A dedicated prayer warrior, Bessie spent countless hours lifting her family, friends, and community in prayer. Her unwavering belief in God was evident in everything she did. She was an active member of Christ Chapel New Testament Church, where she contributed generously, often baking for events and providing service to the congregation at no cost. Even after the church closed, her commitment to faith and service continued, and she remained a pillar of love and support for those around her. For over 25 years, Bessie worked with the United States Postal Service, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues while providing exceptional service to her community. She also pursued her passion for education, attending college and becoming a schoolteacher. For more than 15 years, she dedicated herself to teaching in nursery schools, shaping the lives of countless children. Bessie was passionate about capturing the beauty of life. She loved taking pictures and cherishing every moment, always finding joy in the little things. Whether it was a family gathering, a beautiful day, or a special occasion, she made sure to preserve the memories through her camera lens, leaving behind a collection of cherished moments. Outside of her work and service, Bessie found joy in baking, shopping, and cooking. She often shared her delicious treats with family, friends, and neighbors, showing her love through her generosity. Her home was a warm and welcoming place, filled with love, laughter, and the comforting aroma of freshly baked goods. She also enjoyed watching classic movies and listening to gospel music, filling her days with joy and peace. Bessie will be remembered as a woman of great faith, deep love, and unyielding kindness. Her legacy of compassion, generosity, and devotion to her family, friends, and community will continue to inspire and comfort all who were fortunate enough to know her. A private service will be held to honor her memory, and she will forever remain in the hearts of all who loved her.
