Betty Wheeler Obituary

Betty Mae Wheeler (née Kunde), 87, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025, in Middletown, Connecticut. Born on April 20, 1938, in Waterbury, Connecticut, she lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service. A graduate of Berlin High School, Betty went on to become both a licensed practical nurse and a real estate broker that reflected her dedication to helping others and her strong work ethic. Everything she touched turned to gold. Her commitment to serving those around her extended beyond her professional life and into every aspect of her personal journey. Betty had a deep and abiding relationship with Jesus Christ and found great joy in serving the church and its congregation. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life and guided her actions with grace and compassion. She cherished time spent with loved ones and held dear the values of kindness, generosity, and devotion. She is lovingly remembered by her sons: Paul Wheeler of Middletown; Daniel Wheeler and his wife Debbra of Middlefield; and Jeffrey Wheeler and his wife Mary of Brattleboro, Vermont. Betty was a proud grandmother to Evan (Kelly) Wheeler; Ethan (Taylor) Wheeler; Noah Wheeler; Mina Wheeler; Kelly (Scott) Rybak; Jackie (Bill) Lowe; Beverly Therrien; DJ (Hannah) Wheeler; David (Dominique) Wheeler; Jake Wheeler; Jared (Nancy) Wheeler; Jordan (Julia) Wheeler; ; and Justin (Brooke) Wheeler. Her legacy continues through her fourteen great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. She also leaves behind her lifelong friend Betty Totten, whose enduring friendship was a source of strength and joy throughout the years and the cat she adored, Missy. Betty was predeceased by her husband Paul Wheeler, father Edgar Kunde, mother Elizabeth (Klein) Kunde, and brother Edward Kunde. In addition to her love for family and faith, Betty found peace in the simple pleasures of life. She especially enjoyed knitting and crocheting-crafts that allowed her to create warmth for others with care woven into every stitch A memorial picnic will be planned by the family. May Betty Mae Wheeler's memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
