Carl Lorentzen Obituary

Carl Edwin Lorentzen, 83, a lifelong resident of Bolton, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home on September 1, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on June 24, 1942, to the late Otto and Olga (Albasi) Lorentzen. Carl grew up on the Albasi Farm in Bolton - a place that shaped his character and remained close to his heart throughout his life. After graduating from Manchester High School, Carl proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, spending time stationed in Germany. Upon returning home, he began a long and dedicated career with Southern New England Telephone (SNET), which later became part of AT&T. Starting as a lineman, Carl worked his way up to become a project manager, overseeing large-scale communication projects across the region. Alongside his full-time work, Carl founded Automated Systems, a business where he built and repaired computers, blending technical skill with a love of problem-solving. Carl and his wife Ruth shared a creative spirit, which they brought to life through their business, As the Crow Flies, traveling around the country to sell Ruth's artwork at shows like the Country Living Fairs. Carl approached every project with care and dedication-from crafting hundreds of frames to building displays for each show. Carl's craftsmanship was a quiet but essential part of their success and a testament to his devotion. Carl is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth (Brazdzionis) Lorentzen; his daughter Suzanne (Lorentzen) DeNunzio and her husband David DeNunzio; his daughter Christina Lorentzen; and his grandchildren, Emily, Katelyn, and Nicole DeNunzio. He also leaves behind his brother, William Lorentzen, and many cousins. Carl will be remembered for his quiet strength, sense of humor, deep love for his family, and appreciation for the simple things in life. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. A celebration of Carl's life will be held on Saturday, September 27, at 11:00 a.m. at Bolton Congregational Church, 228 Bolton Center Road, Bolton, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carl's memory to the Alzheimer's Association. Help fight Alzheimer's.
