Charles Alex Obituary

Lt. Col. Charles Alex (retired) had a LONG and fruitful life. He passed on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. "The Colonel", as he was affectionately referred to, was born in New Britain on September 24th, 1919, to John & Lillian and was about to celebrate his 106th birthday next week. Charles married Juanita Badrigian in 1948 and remained with the love of his life for 32 years. Charlie joined the National Guard in 1939. The following year, his 30 year military career in the U.S. Army's Infantry was set in motion. He served in WW II, Korea & Vietnam, which included tours in New Zealand, the South Pacific, Europe and various U.S. bases, with his final tour in Manhattan, as an Inspector General. Along the way, Charlie garnered a plethora of medals and awards prior to his retirement on the 31st of October 1971, with a tribute celebration that took place in his hometown, on January 8th, 1972. The tree of life went through seasons for the Alex family. Charlie is survived by his three children... Patty, Dennis and Chucky. In addition to six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by Juanita, his wife and subsequently, his three brothers and a sister. Carroll, Norman, Arman and Sophie. "The Colonel" was a member St. Stephen's Armenian Church. Services will be held on Tuesday September 23rd at 10 am at The Sgt. John L.
