Charles Cerreta Obituary

Charles Bernard Cerreta, (Chuck) of Meriden, son of the late Bernard and Philomena (Fanny Angelillo) Cerreta, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 21, 2025, after a long difficult and challenging illness. Chuck handled his illness with courage, determination, and dignity. His memory is a treasure, and he will be missed beyond words. Chuck was born on November 26, 1950. Chuck proudly served in the United States Army, which took him to various parts of the world during the Vietnam War era and was a very proud veteran. He was employed at AMF Cuno for many years. He also owned and operated a convenience store in Meriden. He enjoyed and loved playing softball. He loved all sports and was very knowledgeable with team players and team statistics. He was a loyal fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants and the Miami Dolphins. Chuck also loved playing cards and drinking coffee with the guys. He was very close to many cousins, and he was extremely generous and helped many people in need. He is survived by his two sons, Charles III (Chuckie) and Nicholas (Nicky), three beautiful grandchildren, Madison (Maddie) Rose; Serafina Philomena and Vincent Paul -Kelley. He is also survived by his brother and best friend, Michael and his wife Nancy, his nephew Paul, and wife Wini, great nephew Michael and a great niece Liliana. He held a special place in his heart for his godchildren, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by sister Donna Ann Cerreta; his son, Charles B. Cerreta, Jr. and his nephew Shamus Cerreta. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 10:15 a.m. at St. Pius Church, 310 Westfield Street, Middletown, Connecticut. Burial with military honors will commence after the service at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 250 Gypsy Lane, Meriden, Connecticut. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to gofundme for Vincent Paul-Kelley Cerreta, Chuck's grandson, born on September 1, 2025, with complicated and serious medical issues.
