Rev. Charles Otto Clark, Jr., 84, of Middletown, beloved husband of Dianne (Bayley) Clark, passed away on August 20, 2025, at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Born in New Haven, he was the son of the late Charles and Edith (Downs) Clark, Sr.
Charles graduated Clinton High School Class of 1959. He served in the United States Navy during Vietnam War. He graduated in 1970 from Elohim Bible Institute in Castile, NY and Harcourt Learning Direct Professional Locksmithing, both with an associate degree. He was an ordained Baptist minister before he became an evangelist minister. Charles was a Chaplin at the Mattabassett Grange, and his wife was a lector. He did services and sing-a-longs at various nursing homes and performed graveside services for veterans. Charles also worked at a thrift store on Washington Street in Middletown pricing items and as a chauffeur in New Haven.
Charles attended the First United Methodist Church in Middletown.
Along with his wife, Charles is survived by his son Paul A. Clark and his wife Felister of Tallahassee, FL, daughter Sheila P. Clark of Willimantic, stepson Darrin S. W. MacKinnon and his wife Dipa of Gainesville, VA, stepdaughter Beth-Anne Reynolds of Gainesville, FL, a brother, Alfred Clark of New Hampshire, three sisters, Mary C. Crouch and her husband David of Ohio, Marion C. Hubert and her husband Christopher of Plymouth, CT and Laura C. Hurd of Groton, CT, four grandchildren Jocelyn M. Clark, Joshua A. Clark, Jacob A. Clark and his wife Marylynn and Joseph A. Clark, a great grandchild, Dianne Clark, eight step grandchildren Hunter B. Reynolds, Mason B. Reynolds, Ethan B. Reynolds, Skye A. Reynolds, Bayley A. Reynolds, Daani K. MacKinnon, William K. MacKinnon and Deeya K. MacKinnon and one step great grandchild Stevie-Anne Reynolds. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Charles was predeceased by his son Matthew Clark, three siblings, Harry Clark, Keith Clark and Nancy Clark.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 27th at 10:00 am in the Connecticut State Veteran Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown where full military honors will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, donations in Charles memory may be made to
