He was an avid sports fan, devoted to the Boston Red Sox, Notre Dame football, and the Villanova University and UConn men's basketball teams. Charlie and Marilyn created a happy home of many years on Eaton Avenue, which became home to all who entered. Once retired, Charlie and Marilyn traveled to many wonderful places together, but their favorite destination was their cozy condo right next to the lighthouse in Chatham, Massachusetts. Charlie lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed attending sporting events for his sons and grandsons as well as his daughter's dance recitals and cheerleading events. He was known for his sense of humor and sharp wit, and he made everyone feel better just by being around his cheerful personality. He will be dearly missed by many. Charles is survived by his son Charles Deegan and his wife Carmen of Holly Hill, South Carolina, his son Brian Deegan of Walling ford, his daughter Maureen Richard and her husband Kyle of Prospect, and his son Thomas Deegan and his wife Pelinda of Chatham, Massachusetts. Incredible guy... A role model as a husband, father, friend. If we all might have some of his patience, thoughtfulness, humility! A very engaging and fun person as well. Civic leader, church leader - he will certainly be missed!
