Constance Baril Obituary

Constance (Gaudette) "Connie" Baril, 91, of East Hartland, passed away peacefully at UCONN John Dempsey Hospital on September 4, 2025. Born in Manchester Center, Vermont on December 13, 1933, the daughter of the late Charles E. and Kathleen (Blake) Gaudette. Connie was a 1951 graduate of Burr and Burton Academy; she went on to obtain her bachelor's degree from Mary Fletcher Hospital School of Nursing in 1954. Connie worked for many years at Mary Fletcher Hospital, eventually being the nurse in charge of the Emergency Department. Connie enjoyed playing BINGO, knitting, Happy Hours with family and she was an avid NASCAR fan who's favorite driver was Joey Lagano. She also enjoyed watching UCONN Women's Basketball, and was a big fan of Gino Auriemma. Connie is survived by her children, Deborah B. Ransom and her husband Peter of Hartland, Peter D. Baril of East Hartland, Joseph C Baril and his wife Kathleen of Granville, MA, Lawrence E. Baril and his partner Lara O'Neil of Wethersfield, Marcel F. Baril and his wife Debbie of Winsted, Laurie B. Ransom and her husband Thomas of East Hartland and Douglas G. Baril of Stoneville, North Carolina, 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren and her sister, Eleanor Hewes of New York. Connie was predeceased by her husband of 55 years Gerald E. Baril who died August 28, 2011, her granddaughter, Cara Lynn Baril who died August 21, 2021, and her brothers, Gareth and John Gaudette. The family would like to acknowledge and give a heartfelt thank you for the tremendous support and care that Connie received from the SVNA and VNA, the Harry and Helen Cancer Center, Avon Medical Professionals, and the Torrington Wound Care Center. Connie requests that in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Hartland Lion's Club, or the Hartland Volunteer Fire Department. Connie's family will receive friends on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 11-1PM at Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook Street, Granby, CT 06035. Burial will follow in East Hartland Cemetery, Granville Road, East Hartland, CT 06027.
