Dana Andrews Obituary

Dana J. Andrews, 62, of New Britain, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025, after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Tammy Andrews for 20 years. Born in Hartford, son of the late Ignacius and Teresa (Cyr) Andrews, Dana was raised in Newington and settled in New Britain in 1998. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army with the Military Police, stationed at Presidio San Francisco, CA, and in Fitschbach, Germany. Following his military service, Dana continued his commitment to public safety as a VA Police Officer in West Haven and later at Southern Connecticut State University before transitioning into a successful career in sales for fire safety and security systems. Interested in furthering his education, Dana graduated from Middlesex Community College with a degree in Marketing and Business in 2008. An instrumental part of establishing a new chapter of the Connecticut Fraternal Order of Police, Dana was known for his leadership, integrity, and dedication to his fellow officers. Outside of work, he enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, and visiting Vermont. He was a dedicated Cub Scout leader for 5 years alongside his wife Tammy in Berlin with Pack #41 Den #8. He enjoyed late-night drives, spontaneous trips to Walmart, and had an amazing sense of humor that brought laughter to everyone around him. He shared a special bond with his son through their love of 1980s alternative music. In addition to his wife, he leaves his cherished son, Nicholas Andrews of Kensington; his brothers, Charles Andrews of Willimantic and Steven Andrews and his wife Debbie of Groveland, FL; his nieces and nephews, Michael Andrews of Richmond Hill, GA, Noel Gehringer of Manayunk, PA, Nick Andrews of Cocoa Beach, FL, Joseph Andrews of Palm Beach, FL, Trenton Ayers of Wallingford, and Corrina Ayers of Wallingford. He also leaves his best friend, Frederick Cassioppo and his wife Ellen and their family of Chesapeake, VA, his sister-in-law, Theresa Ayers and her significant other Thomas Claussen of Wallingford, Nicholas's mother, Tracey Newton of Kensington, and his adored pets, Dakota, Ruger, and Lemmy. He was predeceased by his cousin Janice Golub and by his beloved pets Marlynn Kimber, Jeter, Brinkley, and Sheffield. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, November 14th, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 p.m. with a funeral ceremony to be held at 6:00 p.m. at the Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. He will be laid to rest with military honors of Saturday, November 15th at 10:00 a.m. in the In Memoriam Cemetery, 18 Maplewood Ave., Wallingford.
