David Hill Obituary

David W. Hill of West Haven entered into rest on August 26,2025 surrounded by his loving family. Born at Yale New Haven Hospital, David grew up in North Haven, where he attended North Haven High School, graduating with the Class of 1979. He dedicated more than 30 years of service to Amtrak, where he retired as a supervisor of the track department. David, known as the "Rail King" was respected and loved by many of his coworkers, admired for his strong work ethic, humor, and loyalty. In his free time, David enjoyed working in his yard, cheering for his beloved New York Giants and Yankees, and proudly attending over 20 Opening Days in a row. He enjoyed scenic rides on his Harley and rode many times for Bikers Against Animal Cruelty. David cherished his time on the sports fields with his grandchildren and loved bringing joy to others-often dressing up as a female impersonator just to make people laugh. David lived life to the fullest, never missing a chance to create memories with those he loved. David is survived by his best friend and soulmate, his wife Laurie Hill; son David B. (Vanessa) Hill; and his loving grandsons Jaiden, Logan, and Camren, who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his brothers Charles Hill and Michael (Janet) Hill; his father-in-law Dominic Daniele,sister-in-law Donna Daniele; brother-in-law Dominic (Anna) Daniele Jr; many cousins, nieces and nephews; his crib mate, Cindy Franco and loving fur baby Max. David was predeceased by his parents, Charles H. and Norma C. Hill, his mother-in-law Sandy Daniele, and brother Richard Hill. David will be remembered for his humor, his heart, and his devotion to family and friends. David's family will celebrate his life on Saturday, September 6, 2025 from 10 am to 2 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home. Please consider sharing words of remembrance with us at 1 pm. Feel free to wear your favorite Yankees, Giants, Harley Davidson or Rock n' Roll attire to celebrate some of David's favorite passions.
