David Larkin Obituary
David Larkin Tribute David Larkin, 70, of Plainville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 29, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, kindness, and love. Known as "Davey" to his family, David was born with cerebral palsy and intellectual disabilities and defied the odds with his courage and determination, inspiring everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
David was a gentle soul with an infectious smile that could brighten any room. Despite the challenges he faced, he embraced life with unwavering joy, teaching those around him the true meaning of perseverance. For years, he worked at CW Resource Inc. in Bristol, CT, where he found purpose in a sense of community. In the summers, he looked forward to attending camp at Camp Harkness, where he enjoyed outdoor activities, modified and adapted for him to truly enjoy without limitation.
In his younger years, David was often seen riding his bike around Plainville, greeting neighbors and friends with his ever -present smile. He was a beloved presence at the annual Plainville Hot Air Balloon Festival, a cherished family tradition he enjoyed for many years. David was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church of Plainville, where his faith and gentle spirit touched the hearts of many.
David found happiness in lifes simple pleasures. He loved watching I Love Lucy, Leave it to Beaver, and The Waltons. He loved Christmas music, especially Andy Williams who he listened to (and wore out) on his vinyl records. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, who were his greatest source of joy.
For many years, his devoted mother, Constance Larkin, cared for him at home, providing him with unconditional love and support until her strength could no longer meet his needs. After her passing, Davids siblings stepped in to ensure he continued to receive the care and advocacy he needed. His sister Judy took on the role of his conservator, devoting years to managing his care with unwavering love and dedication. Davids siblings were a constant source of support throughout his life, offering him a network of love and security.
He is survived by his brother Wayne Larkin of North Smithfield, RI, sister, Judy Cutler (Nick) of Southington, CT, sister, Janet Larkin of Southington, CT, brother Robert Larkin (Heidi) of Glastonbury, CT and several nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, and great-great nephews and nieces, who all had a special place in their heart for Uncle Davey. He was preceaded in death by his beloved mother, Constance Larkin and father, Herbert Larkin.
David will be remembered for his kind heart, his unwavering smile, and his ability to light up the lives of those he met. His family finds comfort knowing that he is now free from pain, reunited with his beloved mother in heaven - riding his bike with the same joy he shared on earth.
