David N. Spear

David N. Spear, 83, of Columbia, CT, entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 25, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Son of the late Ralph and Lillian (Anderson) Spear, David was born on February 26, 1942, in Hartford, CT. A devoted father, grandfather and friend, Dave was known for his quiet strength, quick wit, and unwavering perseverance. He spent his career as a machinist at Pratt and Whitney and later as a home builder. Dave and his late brother Ron spent many summers bringing the family together and setting out on fishing trips. Later in life, he enjoyed taking pictures and perfected his woodwork craft as a true craftsman. For 34 years, he was married to Eileen, as they both found joy in caring for beloved pets, traveling, tending to gardens, and quality time with grandchildren. David is survived by his three children: Scott and wife Cindy, Gregg and wife Wendy, Kristen and husband Peter; 5 granddaughters, Krysta, Sarah, Taylor, Brittany and Morgan; 2 nephews Justin and Blake; 2 step-grandchildren Jax and Jeffrey; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald, nephew Eric and step-father, Billy Dumas. Relatives and friends are invited to the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St. in Manchester for a visitation on Saturday, August 2, from 10:30 to 11:30 am, followed by a brief memorial service.
