Delores Jessie Greenlee

Delores Jessie "DeeDee" Greenlee, 66, of New Haven, CT, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. Born on April 8, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Rufus and Delores Greenlee and grew up in New Haven alongside her siblings. A gifted student, Delores graduated from Wilbur Cross High School at 16, later earning a bachelor's degree in journalism from Northeastern University and a master's degree in public health from Southern Connecticut State University. She built a distinguished career in public health spanning more than three decades, most recently serving as Section Chief of STD/HIV/TB/Viral Hepatitis for the Connecticut Department of Public Health. Known for her leadership and passion, she dedicated her life to eliminating HIV/AIDS stigma and advancing health equity, especially in Black, Hispanic, and LGBTQ+ communities. She was a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. for 47 years, active in the New Haven Alumnae Chapter, and deeply committed to service, scholarship, and sisterhood. A woman of faith and love, DeeDee will be remembered for her kindness, her lasting connections, and her unwavering devotion to family and friends. She is survived by her brother, Eugene Goodson of Massachusetts; devoted niece, Jennifer F. Wells-Jackson (Allen); nephew, Anthony M. Wells; niece, Phaedra Ebron; and a host of other nieces and nephews, relatives, sorority sisters, and dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Rufus and Delores Greenlee; sisters, Virginia Greenlee Wells and Joyce Turner; brother, Elwood Edward Goodson (Barbara); and brothers-in-law, Marshall Wells and Holmer Turner.
