Dorothy Dudchik Obituary

Dorothy "Dodie" K. Dudchik, age 92 of Ansonia, beloved wife of the late Nicholas J. Dudchik, died peacefully on August 21, 2025 at Yale New Haven Hospital with her family by her side. Born in Torrington, CT on June 16, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Otto M. and Dorothy Warcholik Karlak. Mrs. Dudchik was a lifelong resident of Ansonia and 1951 graduate of Ansonia High School, where she was instrumental in organizing the class reunions from 1951 to recent times. "Dodie" earned her bachelor's degree in 1955 from the University of Connecticut and remained a passionate fan of the UConn Men's and Lady's basketball teams, as well as the UConn football team. "Dodie" was a proud sister of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Mrs. Dudchik enjoyed a long career in management, first employed with the Connecticut Natural Gas Co. of New Haven and then moving to retail sales management at Read's, Jordan Marsh and Naturalizer stores, until the time of her retirement in 1998. "Dodie" took an active role in her every endeavor, never just a participant. She was a lifelong member of the Ansonia Republican Town Committee and worked as an election moderator at the Ansonia polls every year. Her friendly smile and sociable personality brightened the spirits of many during her 26-year tenure as a volunteer at the Griffin Hospital Gift Shop. A devout Orthodox Christian, "Dodie" was a lifelong member of Three Saints Orthodox Church of Ansonia, where she was a choir member from age nine until a few weeks before her passing. Her faith was the very foundation of her being, as she attended every Vespers, every Divine Liturgy and every Funeral with grace and piety. Following every service, "Dodie" could be found in the church basement kitchen, helping to set up refreshments for the parishioners. Mrs. Dudchik is survived by her devoted children, Nancy J. Dudchik of Branford and Thomas J. Dudchik and his wife, Nora of East Haddam. In addition to her husband, "Dodie" was tragically predeceased by her two grandsons in 2022, Anthony Thomas Dudchik and Robert Allen Dudchik. Family and friends may call on Monday, August 25, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM (Panakhida at 6:30 PM) at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, meeting directly at Three Saints Orthodox Church, 26 Howard Avenue, Ansonia at 9:00 AM. A Requiem Funeral Service will take place at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Memorial contributions may be made to the Three Saints Orthodox Church Maintenance Trust.
