Edward Luongo Obituary

Edward "Eddie" Luongo, 58, of Enfield, lost his life as the result of a tragic hunting accident on Tuesday, September, 23, 2025. He is survived by his mother, Joan Luongo, his wife of thirty-one years, Rita Luongo, daughter Lauren Luongo, and step-daughter Racine Reberio. Eddie was predeceased by his father, Joseph Edward Luongo, and his mother-in-law Antoinette Anteck. Eddie was raised in Saint James, New York. He was a longtime resident of Long Island prior to moving to Massachusetts for college, later settling in Enfield, Connecticut for the remainder of his life. Eddie was beloved by friends and family. He was a devoted husband, father, and son. His catch phrase "I just work here" was a reflection of the lighthearted, sarcastic approach he took to life. He took pleasure in mundane household tasks such as mowing the lawn, doing laundry, and gardening. He attentively cared for his elderly mother, Joan. As a proud father, he invested unlimited funding into his daughter Lauren's educational pursuits, for which she is set to graduate with her doctorate in the coming months. He and his wife Rita created a beautiful home environment where laughter, love, and food were always to be found. Holidays were especially cherished moments in the Luongo household. Eddie was a longtime employee of ABC Supply Co. (formerly Bradco), where he was an area sales manager/sales representative. He started his tenure with the company in 1994. Eddie established an extensive customer base due to his work ethic and honesty. He genuinely cared about his customers and coworkers, and over the years, both became friends. He would make himself available to anyone who needed him. Eddie had a positive impact on everyone he encountered. Eddie was a world-class sportsman, dedicating almost the entirety of his free time to hunting and fishing. No matter the season, Eddie was always active in the great outdoors. In the Fall and Winter, his focus was hunting and ice-fishing, and in the warmer months, he was devoted to fishing. His hunting adventures brought him to various parts of the country, with one of his favorite traditions being a bear hunting trip to Maine alongside his friend Mike. This annual tradition spanned almost thirty years. Eddie lived to go out on the ocean, either on his own boat or deep-sea vessels. He affectionately referred to his boat as the "clam digger". His legendary catches while deep-sea tuna fishing were enjoyed with family and friends. He loved to creatively prepare dishes featuring his catches with his friends Billy and Randy. This passion for the outdoors border lined obsession. When Eddie was not physically hunting or fishing himself, he would then watch sportsman television shows. His favorites were MeatEater and Wicked Tuna. A lifelong passion of Eddie's was cooking delicious meals. He was famous for his Christmas sauce, featuring day-long simmered beef short ribs. His famous sauce was served with al-dente pasta and fresh baked Italian bread. Other favorites that Rita and Lauren would often request were cassava-fried shrimp and chicken wings. He was a natural born chef who never needed to measure or use a recipe. All dishes were made with love, as he would often express, eagerly waiting to hear if you liked the food. Eddie viewed cooking as a way to share his love with his family and those around him. The memories of the meals shared will be fondly remembered. Although this sudden loss will be felt for years to come by the ones who loved him, one fact remains, Eddie died doing what he loved. Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday, October, 1st from 4-7pm at Browne Memorial Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October, 2nd at 11am at St. Martha Church, 214 Brainard Road, Enfield, CT. Committal will follow at St. Patrick King Street Cemetery, 1558 King Street, Enfield, CT.
