Elaine Ham Obituary

Elaine Marynuk Ham died January 26, 2025. Born in Brattleboro, Vermont in 1951, she was the daughter of Edward and Helen (Nebelski) Marynuk of Guilford, Vermont. She graduated from Brattleboro Union High School in 1968 and from Hartford Hospital School of Nursing in 1971. She worked at several institutions around the Hartford, Connecticut area. She is survived by her son Christopher, his wife Christa, and their daughter Lyra. Also, by 2 sisters and their husbands, Mary Marynuk and Terry Gray, and Myrea (Mea) and Kenny Whitworth, and several cousins. Also, a "3rd sister", Jae (Ham) Whitelaw and her family, with whom she remained very close. Elaine wanted to thank Michele Sadlosky and her family for treating Elaine as part of their family for 50 years. And a special gratitude and thanks to those who have supported Elaine for 25+ years (you know who you are). Spare time interests included quilling, needlework, knitting, and crossword puzzles. Saturday evenings were saved for dinner and cards with friends. Elaine was usually the dessert maker; her special blueberry pie was always a party pleaser. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Newington Food Bank or the Newington Volunteer Ambulance. Elaine was Our Children´s Centers (West Hartford) school nurse for years. Elaine was an amazing nurse. She kept the center safe. She loved coming to OCC weekly wherein she´d observed the children, she´d keep the classrooms in code and she was a friend to myself and many of the teachers over the years. She was a friend of mine and helped me with my own medical conditions. After I left OCC, I had often wondered how she was. Heaven has gained a very special angel. I know she will watch over the children in heaven. Elaine has gained her wings.
