Elizabeth Cass Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Williamson Cass, age 101 of Seymour, beloved wife of the late Joseph W. Cass, entered peaceful rest on Friday, June 27, 2025 in her home surrounded by family. Born in New Haven on June 7, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Elizabeth (Donovan) Williamson. A proud Irishwoman, Elizabeth was a devout Catholic and faithful member of St. Augustine's Church. Her love of puzzles, particularly Wordle and crosswords, kept her mind sharp. Above all, she cherished spending time with her loved ones. The door to her home was always open especially for Friday Night Pizza. She had a special gift for making every guest feel like family, always ensuring they were comfortable and well-fed. Elizabeth effortlessly won the heart of anyone who was lucky enough to meet her. She is survived by her loving children, Joseph Cass and wife Donna, Nancy McLean and husband Clinton, William Cass and partner Debbie, son-in-law Jerry Baker; adored grandchildren, Alysha Newman and husband James, Courtney Cass and partner Thomas, Lauren Hilscher and husband Cole, Kristen Madivala and husband Neeraj, Nichole Olenechuk, Rachel Hayes and husband Christopher, Emmett Baker and partner Michelle; 12 cherished great-grandchildren; and countless other friends and extended family who will miss her dearly. In addition to her parents and husband, Elizabeth was predeceased by her brother Ernest Williamson, daughter Elizabeth Baker, and great-grandchildren Michael Baker and Ava Newman. A memorial mass celebrating her life will take place on Thursday July 3, 2025 at 11am in St. Augustine's Church (St. Nicholas Parish) 35 Washington Ave, Seymour, CT 06483. Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family Thursday morning from 9 - 10:30am at Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour, CT 06483. Betty was like a second mother to me growing up. She was always so kind and thoughtful. When my mom passed she came to see me. She said she had to come in person because she couldn“t put all that my mother and family meant to her in a card, I will always treasure that visit. How amazing that she lived to see her 101st birthday! I will always remember the good times we had in the neighborhood and how lucky we all were to have known Betty. To all her family and friends-I am so sorry for your loss.
