Elizabeth Keyes Obituary

Elizabeth Keyes Tribute Elizabeth 'Betty' Howarth Keyes, 93, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Masonicare of Wallingford surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas M. Keyes Sr. Betty was born in New Haven, CT on January 30, 1931, a daughter to the late George and Margaret (Turner) Howarth. Betty attended New Haven public schools and graduated from The New Haven Commercial High School in 1949. She worked at the Security Insurance Company and later with the Wallingford Food Service Dept. She was a faithful Parishioner, member of the Ladies Guild, and a Eucharistic Minister at the Church of The Resurrection. As an avid sports fan Betty enjoyed watching the Red Sox and UConn basketball teams. Betty is survived by her devoted children: Margaret (Peter) Barillaro, Thomas (Karen) Keyes, Joan (Bruce) Cwirka, George (Lisa) Keyes, Teresa (Walter) Torres, Regina (Joseph) Carasone, and Kevin (Lynn) Keyes. She was the beloved 'Nanny' to 35 grandchildren and 69 Great Grandchildren. Betty is also survived by her sisters in law, Barbara Keyes, Kathy Traub, and Ruth Gindhart, and brother-in-law John DeChello as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Betty is predeceased by her great grandson, Nicholas Keyes, and her siblings, Joan Annunziata, Margaret Wrenn, and George Howarth. Betty's family would like to extend their immense gratitude to the numerous caregivers for their dedicated support and compassion both at home and at the Masonicare community. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 8, 2024 at the Church of the Resurrection in Wallingford, followed by burial in St. Johns Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday morning from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford.
