Erline Rosetta Austin

Erline Rosetta Austin, age 82, of Hartford, CT passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 3, 2025 at Civita Care Center in Newington, CT. She was the beloved wife of Norman Austin. Born on September 3, 1942, in Manchester, Jamaica, Erline was the 6th child of 10 children, born to the late Hilda (Williams) Ellis and Ezekiel Ellis. She was predeceased by her siblings Ionie Ellis, Clarence Ellis, Leslie Ellis, Ronald Lamont, Dennis Ellis, Delison Ellis, Dingwall Ellis, and Curtis Ellis. Erline was kind and generous to all those she met. She had a very special love for her family especially her nieces, nephews, and her late mother. She was known among her siblings as 'mama's girl'. Her love for children led to her caring and supporting many youths over the years. In her younger years, she enjoyed walking. One of her favorite things to do was walking in the rain. In addition to her many favorites, she enjoyed shopping and was very big on fashion and was a lover of beautiful clothes and jewelry. Among her favorite past-time, she enjoyed visiting the casino with her brothers and her husband, Norman. She also enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and watching television with Norman. During her early years in Jamaica, she attended Porus Primary School. She was employed as crocheter of baby's clothes at Shagoury's Enterprises in May Pen, Clarendon. Following her migration to the United States of America in the late 1960s, she settled in Hartford Connecticut. She was employed by Sears for many years, and worked in various positions before her last job and eventual retirement as a Dietary Aide at Hughes Health and Rehabilitation Home in West Hartford, CT. Erline is survived by her husband Norman Austin of Hartford, adopted daughter, Marleen Ellis-Davis of Bloomfield, sister Rose Ellis-Bryan of Nottingham, England, many nieces and nephews, cousins, stepsons, Mark Austin of Manchester (Michelle) and Eric Austin (Melissa), step-grandchildren, sister-in-law, and brothers-in-law. Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral service at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave, Windsor, CT on Saturday, June 21st at 9:30 am, with burial to follow at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield, CT. Erline's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her family will celebrate her life on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor Burial will follow at Mt.
