Eugene Ellis Obituary

Eugene J. Ellis, 73, of West Haven entered into rest on August 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen Ireland Ellis. In addition to his wife, Gene leaves three children and their spouses Kerri and Rick Ruocco, Pete and Jenna Ireland and Justin Ellis, his siblings Rob (Susan) Ellis, Kathleen (Michael) Lutz, David Ellis and the late Timothy and Daniel Ellis, several grandchildren, one great grandchild, many nieces and nephews and his fur buddies Brasco, Dan and Evie. He was predeceased by his parents Robert Henry and Emily Edna Geer Ellis. Gene retired from the City of West Haven where he worked for many years at the water filtration plant. During the Vietnam War, Gene proudly served in the Navy stationed in Vietnam and Korea. He received many service medals including the Vietnam Service medal with three bronze stars. The Ellis family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the ICU nurses and hospice staff at Yale-New Haven Hospital for their compassionate care. Visitation will take place on Monday August 25 from 4 to 7 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home. At 6:30, words of remembrance will be shared by the family followed by military honors at the funeral home.
