Eva Dimopoulos Obituary

In loving memory of Eva Dimopoulos February 7, 1943-January 3, 2025 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Eva Dimopoulos, 81, of Farmington, Connecticut, who passed away on January 3, 2025. She was born on February 7, 1943 in Aperi, Karpathos, Greece to Irene and Emmanuel Litos. Eva Dimopoulos and her siblings immigrated to the United States in 1966, she began as a seamstress and later to a metalworks factory; learning the language and establishing her American dream with her husband, Dimitrios (Jimmy) Dimopoulos. In 1975, Eva and Jimmy opened Queen Pizza (now JD's Restaurant Bar and Grill), and for over fifty years they have fed and entertained hundreds of thousands of patrons. Together, they became a cornerstone of Southington, Connecticut, embodying the spirit and heart of community. Everywhere she went, everything she was involved in, Eva was a foundational member. Industrious, intelligent, and a spitfire personality, she was a beacon of strength for many to rely on. Eva's generosity knew no bounds; her nurturing instinct left many regarding her as a second mother, and she derived this love for everyone through her devotion to Christianity. Deeply rooted in her Orthodox faith, she was a pillar of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church in New Britain, serving on the church council for decades. She was part of many organizations including but not limited to the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society and The Daughters of Penelope. Eva Dimopoulos was a matriarch, an anchor, and a force to be reckoned with and left a lasting impact throughout the world. Eva was predeceased by her siblings, Maria Skoulos, Elias Litos, and Minas Litos. She is survived by her siblings Dimitrios Litos and Sophia Fassakis, her husband Dimitrios Dimopoulos, her children Xenophon Dimopoulos, Irene Galanis and her husband Constantine Galanis, and her grandchildren Eva and Seva Galanis. Funeral services will held at St. George Church on January 13th from 5-8 pm and the 14th at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Eva's Memorial Fund. In light of her tireless, lifelong commitment to fundraising for the church, all proceeds will be given to St. George Greek Orthodox Church in New Britain, Connecticut.
