Frances Stack Obituary
Frances Hayden Stack, 91, a proud direct descendant of Ethan Allen, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on August 6, 2025.
Born in Hartford and raised in Winsted, Connecticut, Fran-affectionately known as "Franny from Fruit Street"-graduated from Gilbert High School and LaSalle College. In 1955, Fran married Robert George Stack, with whom she shared over four decades of marriage until his passing in 1999. They made their home in Newington, Connecticut, and raised two devoted children, Robert Stack and Cynthia Bialy. She built a distinguished career at Travelers Insurance, serving the Finance Chair on the Board of Directors and was often credited with "saving the day."
Fran also found deep happiness in bringing loved ones to her cherished Rhode Island cottage, where she created lasting memories filled with laughter, love, and togetherness. She also found a love for traveling abroad. Throughout her life, she greatly enjoyed and appreciated the many visits from loving neighbors and friends.
She also deeply cherished her son-in-law, Bruce Bialy, entrusting him alongside her children to carry out her final wishes. Known to her grandchildren as "Nana" and "Nunsy," Rob and Katie Bialy were also a great joy of her life. Their bond was one of extraordinary love and pride, shared in both quiet moments and joyful adventures.
In her final days, she was surrounded by grace, receiving heartfelt visits and blessings from family, friends, and neighbors. She was supported with kindness and dignity in her final weeks, by the compassionate team at AccentCare Hospice and the outstanding staff at UConn John Dempsey Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Church, 626 Willard Ave., Newington, on Tuesday, August 12th at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services will be private. A celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
