"Celebrating a Life Well Lived: Frank Davino, A Legacy of Love and Wisdom"
Francis J. Davino, 88, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on February 9, 2025. Born on September 2, 1936, in Waterbury, CT, he remained deeply committed and connected to his hometown throughout his life.
Frank proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958, including 18 months stationed in Korea. Following his military service, he embarked on a distinguished career that spanned several decades. From 1959 to 1987, he served as the Executive Director of the Urban Renewal Agency in Waterbury, playing a pivotal role in shaping the city's development. He later entered the private sector to work alongside his trusted confidant Ralph Carpinella, as Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Carpin Manufacturing, a position he held from 1988 until his passing.
A man of many passions and talents, Frank was an avid art and coin enthusiast, a race car driver, and an Arabian horse breeder. His love for the cowboy life often led him to Wyoming and Montana where he rode horseback, and at one time charted and then followed the trail of Crazy Horse after the Battle of Little Bighorn in 1876 with his friend Sal Santopietro. He also explored creative pursuits as an author, poet, and television host while excelling as a real estate investor and entrepreneur. He was a revered mentor to many, and his philanthropic efforts reflected his deep commitment to giving back to the community. Out of his many accomplishments, Frank was most proud of the pivotal role he played in saving The Palace Theater, stepping in after a devastating fire and preventing the beloved landmark from falling to the wrecking ball, ensuring its legacy for future generations.
Frank was known for his sharp intellect and gift for storytelling. He often shared childhood memories, captivating those around him with his vivid recollections. Sitting around the dinner table after a meal with Frank was always filled with laughter and disbelief as he recounted the antics he and his many friends shared throughout his lifetime. A loyal friend and confidant, he lived life to the fullest and was extremely devoted to those he loved.
He is survived by his beloved brothers Dominic (Debbie) and Joseph Davino; nieces and nephew Maria Davino Krikorian (David), goddaughter Karen Davino Schneidermeyer (Philip), and Michael Davino (Anne); adoring great-niece and nephews Jacob (Lisa), Michaela, and Thomas Schneidermeyer; great-great-niece and nephew Bryson and Ava Schneidermeyer; the Davino, Moschella, & Migliorisi cousins; best mate Ralph Carpinella; longtime companion Susan McGrath; the Alisi family, Barbara and her late husband Vincent; and many cherished friends. He was predeceased by his wife Janice (Carangelo). His lifetime heroes were his parents Frank B. and Elvira (Moschella) Davino.
