Gary E Culbert

Gary Edward Culbert, of Daytona, Florida, passed away on July 20, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on April 11, 1948, in Houlton, Maine he was a long time resident of East Hampton and graduate of EHHS. He served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1970. Following his service, Gary worked as a machinist and truck driver at EIS and later transitioned into a second career as a custodian at East Hampton Middle School, where he worked for twelve years. Gary found joy in simple pleasures and hands-on hobbies. He spent countless hours restoring his '51 Ford pickup to its former glory. He enjoyed collecting model cars, watching truck pulls and was an avid fan of country music, classic western movies and camping with family and friends. He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Margaret Culbert (Harwood), daughter Ashley Miner and her husband Mark of East Hampton; three cherished grandchildren: Westin Miner, Chandler Massey and Lauren Massey of Florida. His memory will also be held dear by his sisters Ellen Kraczykowsky (Jimmy) and Carletta Benjamin (Ken); brothers Eddie Culbert and Wayne Culbert (Michelle); niece Tammy Cronin; nephew Shawn Cronin; along with many extended family members. Gary was predeceased by his beloved daughter Rebecca Culbert of Daytona, Florida; his parents Charles Culbert and Sylvia Culbert (Johnston); sister Charlene Ford; brother Clifton Culbert; and close friends Bobby and Brenda Cronin. Gary's legacy lives on in those who knew him- a veteran, husband, father, grandfather and friend. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him.
