Giovannina Malinconico Obituary

Giovannina "Jane" Possidente Malinconico, of East Haven, CT, formerly of Orange, CT, beloved wife of the late Frank Malinconico, passed peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. She was 96 years old. Jane is survived by her son, Frank (Sue-Ann) Malinconico of Old Saybrook, CT, and her son, Stephen (Karyn) Malinconico of Woodbridge, CT. She also leaves her grandson, Michael (Morgan) Malinconico of Boston, her granddaughter, Jessica Malinconico of Chicago, IL, her grandsons, Nicholas Malinconico of Groton, CT and Marco Malinconico of East Lyme, CT, as well as her great-grandson, Archer Bradley Malinconico. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Lucille Lamberti of North Haven, CT, and numerous nieces and nephews whom she adored. Jane was born on October 4, 1929, the tenth child of Carlo and Judita Mancini Possidente. Besides her parents, Jane was predeceased by her brothers Marino, William, Bernard, Alex and Giovanni and sisters, Elvira Votto, Mary D'Angelo, Catherine De Lucia, and Carmel Marciano. Jane started her career in banking when she was hired by New Haven Savings Bank on Church Street in 1947. She was a member of the Society of Savings Bank for Women and attended classes at the American Institute of Banking. She was the Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of the institute and was responsible for arranging the GI and FHA mortgages during the housing boom after World War II. Jane was also a licensed real estate agent for many years and sold property throughout Connecticut. Jane was a past member of the West Haven Junior Women's League and an active parishioner at Holy Infant Catholic Church in Orange, CT. As a sports enthusiast, Jane was a long-time member of the Laurel View Women's Golf Association where she achieved a hole-in-one at 80 years old! Jane actively enjoyed skiing in Vermont and Vail, CO, until her early 70's. She enjoyed playing tennis and swimming at both Silver Sands and the Double Beach Club. Her favorite days were spent at the beach with her family and especially, her sister, Ceil, until age 95. Family and friends may call at the Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc. 11 Wooster Place, New Haven on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 8:30-10:15am, and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Infant Church, 450 Racebrook Road, Orange, CT at 11:00am. The burial will be held at Orange Center Cemetery on Orange Center Road, Orange, CT, after the Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be made in Jane's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
