Giuseppe Aglieco Obituary
Giuseppe (Pippo) Aglieco, 92, of Wethersfield, CT died Friday February 14, 2025 peacefully surrounded by his family at Hartford Hospital, Conklin Building after a brief illness. He was born October 1, 1932 in Floridia, Province of Siracusa Italy. He was the son of the late Pasquale and Stella (Giuliano)Aglieco. He is survived by his daughters, Stella Cannata and her husband Joseph of Rocky Hill, Marilena Gulioso and her husband John of New London, and a sister, Maria Lavella and her husband Pietro of Australia. He leaves three grandchildren, Cody, Ashley, and Christian, many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, cousins and friends in Sicily, Australia and in America. He was predeceased by his wife, the love of his life, Graziella, thirty years ago. He was also predeceased by siblings, Sebastiana Trachina, Angelo Aglieco, Antonino Aglieco, Luigi Aglieco, Rosina Carpintieri, Lucia DePaola, and Simone Aglieco. Pippo was an honorable, selfless man who lived a long life and persevered long after the passing of his beloved wife. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren whom he always prioritized. Pippo enjoyed cycling and participated in many bike races in Sicily. Cultivating and harvesting the garden was one of his life's passions. The fruits of his labor, especially his vegetables and tomatoes which he made into sauce, were enjoyed by so many. He was always performing odd jobs at his home and the homes of his children. Pippo worked as a mason for many years and many of his stone and brick projects, especially around his own home, are still standing.
Pippo's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to Companions and Homemakers, Elizabeth, the Care Coordinator and Orlene, his home healthcare companion. Orlene's dedication and service allowed Pippo to remain in his home of 50 years that he shared with his wife and raised his children. In addition, the family would like to recognize and praise the care and compassion shown Pippo and his entire family by the hospice team and hospital staff working the 2nd floor of the Conklin Building at Hartford Hospital.
A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday Feb. 22nd at 10:00AM in St. Josephine Bakhita Parish Church of St. James 767 Elm St. Rocky Hill, CT, followed by entombment in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will greet guests in the church entrance starting at 9:30AM.
