Gwendolyn C. LaRose

Gwendolyn (Carter) LaRose, 89, of Windsor Locks, beloved wife of Richard G. LaRose, passed away Friday, January 24, 2025. Born in Hartford, daughter of the late David L. and Margaret (Nolan) Carter, she was raised in Granby moving to Windsor Locks 65 years ago. Gwen was employed by Hamilton Standard for over 23 years and served on Hamilton's Employee Recreation Council. She also served as a volunteer for many years cleaning St Mary's Church in Windsor Locks where she continued as a parishioner until her death. She was predeceased by her daughter Jean LaRose and brothers Joseph and Robert Carter, and sisters Shirley Bridges and Joan Champion. Besides her husband Richard, she leaves a sister-in-law Violet Lewis of Ledyard, and many nieces and nephews. Her family will receive family and friends, Wednesday, January 29, 2025, from 9:30-10:30 AM at the Carmon Poquonock Funeral Home, 1816 Poquonock Avenue, Poquonock section of Windsor followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at Mary, Gate of Heaven Parish, St. Mary Church, 42 Spring Street., Windsor Locks. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Poquonock. Memorial Contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
