Irene Cranick Obituary

Irene Semczyszyn Cranick, born to Wasyl and Wilhelmine Semczyszyn on August 20, 1950, in Salzburg, Austria. She immigrated to the US with her parents as an infant and later became a naturized citizen. She leaves her husband, the love of her life, her soulmate, Clifford Cranick Jr. They were married on August 25, 1973. They celebrated their 52nd anniversary this past summer. Irene lovingly leaves her devoted sons; Paul and Bo, Paul's wife Julie and Bo's partner Penny. She will be greatly missed by her granddaughter Mikayla and Penny's son Justus. She leaves her sister Helen Semczyszyn, niece Michelle Webb, sister-in-law Donna Koenig and niece Janis McLaughlin as well as two great nephews and a great niece. Irene was predeceased by her nephew Michael Henneforth. Irene worked for USDA, Farmers Home Administration for 30 years. She assisted people with homeownership, loan and grant programs to municipalities and her favorite, the Senior Rental Housing Program where she got to meet and help elderly renters. After retiring from USDA, she worked at TVCCA with the Meals on Wheels program for 10 years. This allowed her to continue with her joy of working with and for her "seniors". She counted many of them as friends. Most important in her life was family and friends. She encouraged her children in all their interests, supporting their sports faithfully for many years. Irene continued this practice with her adored granddaughter Mikayla. She had many fun times with Mikayla and absolutely loved being her Nonnie. She enjoyed special friends, often combining family vacations for many years with the Burns family. The families have wonderful memories of camping trips, Florida vacations and spending New Years Eves together growing up. She was a wonderful, loving person who will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched. A celebration of life will be held at the Aurora McCarthy Funeral Home on Thursday, November 6th, at 10am, followed by a burial in New Hebron Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to PHA (Pulmonary Hypertension Association), 1121 14th St. NW, Suite 150 Washington, DC 20005
