Itleane Gause Obituary

Itleane Gause, departed this earthly realm to eternal rest with her Heavenly Father on March 18, 2025, at her home. She was born on March 9, 1946 to the late Mr. Sam Davis and Ms. Tressa Woodberry, in Marion, South Carolina.
Itleane was a proud member of the Booker T. Washington High School graduating class of 1964. In 1966, she moved from South Carolina to Connecticut and met Demary Gause in 1967. They were married in 1968 and shared nearly 6 decades together growing their family, and their faith.
She was employed at various companies, including Starter Sportswear and Yale University, from which she retired in 2012.
Itleane, affectionately known by her family as Kate and/or Lena, loved cooking, sewing, spending time with her family and watching her favorite TV shows. She was a devoted and founding member of New Freedom Missionary Baptist Church for over 30 years. Itleane served on the Pastors Aide Ministry and Ushers Ministry. She also served as a Deaconess, and "Mother of the Church". She wasn't just a believer of the word, she was a living testament to its truth. Her life reflected its principles through her loyalty, selflessness, and unwavering faith.
Itleane leaves to cherish fond memories, her children, Casey Gause and LaToya Gause; her bonus children, Linda Sheppard (Bobby), Debra Latson (Phil), Phyllis Gause, Demary Gause Jr., and Jacqueline Gause; granddaughter, Raven Joseph; bonus grandchildren Ticara Gause, Bryan Graves, and Clarissa Rivera; bonus great grandchild, Cailani Rivera; brother Monroe Richardson, Jr.; special nephews and nieces; Kenneth Woodbury, Tressa Spears Jackson (Qwaliff), Monroe Richardson, III, Tyrese Richardson and Monique Richardson; special great nephew, Isaiah Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Demary Gause, Sr.; sisters, Annie Spears, Ester Woodberry, Odessa Moore, Clara Davis, Hessie Lee Legette, and Rosena Parker; and brothers, Sam Davis, George Davis, Sherman Davis, Jake Davis, Robert Davis, Levester Taylor, and June Rogers.
The legacy of Itleane Gause will remain in the hearts of her loving and devoted family, church family and friends.

Kate and her sister, Jo, were more like aunts than cousins. Kate will be terribly miss from spending her vacation in our home town of Britton“s Neck, SC., and from our many phone calls. To Casey, Latoya, Raven, Tressa, Isaiah and other family members know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all in this very difficult time. May God grant you peace and comfort! I love you all very much.

I am thankful we were able to see Kate on this side one last time last year. I always looked forward to seeing her, Joe, Latoya, Casey, and Andrea come visit the family down south since my childhood. May God comfort you all during this loss.
