Jacqueline "Jackie" Howard

Jacqueline E. Howard (nee, Horne) of Ansonia passed peacefully into the next life on August 24, 2025 at the age of 83. Known to all as "Jackie", she was born in Lowell, Massachusetts in September of 1941 and came to New Haven, Connecticut with her family in 1945. As a teen she held a passion for synchronized ice skating. She would later meet Air Force veteran George A. Howard, Jr. and the two married in February of 1960. They moved to Ansonia in 1969 and had been married for more than 59 years upon his passing in June of 2019. Among so many pastimes they enjoyed together were CB, ham radio and motorcycle riding as well as being Lions Club members. Jackie also shared her husband's love of antique cars and "car cruises", where many lifelong friendships were forged with the people they met who are still extended family to this day. Above all else, though, she was always "Mom" to both her own children and friends from literally all around the world whom she "adopted". Her ability to connect with people from all walks of life is but one among many endearing traits for which she is so beloved. Jackie was predeceased by her parents and their siblings as well as her husband. She is survived by two sons: Brian G. Howard, RN of Derby, Connecticut and George A. Howard, III of Sag Harbor, New York; a daughter, Alicia Louise (Howard) Wegmann of Elkader, Iowa; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; her sister-in-law Joyce (Howard) Wruck and nephew George Wruck, both of Wallingford, Connecticut as well as many cousins on both sides of her family. Family and friends may call on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:30 PM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.
